What makes the outer planets unique?
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptun are the four outer planets or Jovian planets, and they are mostly made of hydrogen and
helium. The outer planets are much larger then the inner planets. Jovian planets have a lot of atmosphere, in their atmosphere helium and hydrogen are in the form of gas. The surface of the planets could be slushy, but below hydrogen and helium are in the form of liquid. The center of each planet is made of rock. Each of the Jovian planets has its own system of moons. Saturns rings have been seen for many years, they are made mostly of water and icy particles. Rings have also recently been discovered around Jupiter and Uranus.

Jupiter- The atmostphere is very cold, but the closer to the core you go the hotter it gets. One year on Jupiter is equal to 12 years on earth. Jupiter has a large red spot called "The Great Red Spot", the spot is said to be a huge hurricane, 3 earths could fit into the "The Great Red Spot". Jupiter has at least 17 moons.
Saturn- 2nd largest planet in our solar system, almost 10x larger then earth. Saturn is very cold, because of the distance it is away from the sun. One year on Saturn is equal to 30 on earth. The ring particle sizes of Saturns rings range from dust sized icy grains, to a handful of particles the size of mountains. Saturn has 22 discovered moons.
Uranus- Discovered only 200 years ago. Uranus is 4x larger then earth. Uranus is tipped on its side causing it to spin like a top, on its side. Darkness and Sunlight at the North Pole of Uranus last 42 earth years. Uranus has rings, but they are dark, narrow, and very hard to see.
Neptune- Is the furthest away from the sun- making it a very cold planet. Neptune is a little smaller then Uranus. It takes less time then earth to rotate once, but takes 165 earth years for Neptune to orbit once around the sun. Neptune has 3 satellites(a satellite is a moon that moves around a body in space).
